If you are staying overnight in Tower A, we suggest that your first stop on campus be at Panther Central to check into your room. Be sure to pick up your Panther Card (University ID) while at Panther Central!

8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Paper Placement Exams (For students only)
This testing is for students who need to complete the following placement exams that are only offered on campus in a paper format: Music Theory, Latin, Russian, and Portuguese.
Advising Center, 2nd Floor, Thackeray Hall
9:30 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. PittStart Check-In & Icebreakers
You can officially check in for your PittStart session at this time. If you do not have a smartphone to utilize the Guidebook App, you can pick up a hard copy of the finalized agenda and other important materials here. We encourage all PittStart participants to check in at this time if you wish to participate in all Day One events. Then join the Pitt Pathfinders and your new classmates for games and fun!
Extended PittStart Check-In will be available until 5 p.m. for those students unable to check in between 9:30 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Class Dismissed: Now What?
Meet Pitt Pathfinders to learn how to get involved on campus and make the most of your Pitt experience.
12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Lunch Break
Grab a bite to eat at one of the many on or off-campus eateries with the complimentary $8 on your Panther Card (University ID). Eat with the Pathfinders or venture on your own. Restaurant options are available in the Guidebook App.
1 p.m. - 3 p.m. University Resource Fair
Stop in and talk with representatives from various University departments.
1:15 p.m. - 2:05 p.m. Panther Central Presentation
Panther Central is the University’s concierge service provider and your go-to place for all the essentials of daily living on campus, from Pitt IDs and housing, to meal plans and transportation.
1:45 p.m. - 4 p.m. Make-Up Online Placement Exams (For students only)
This testing is for students who need to complete the following online placement exams: Math, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
2:15 p.m. - 3:50 p.m. Managing Student Finances
Every student and parent needs to understand how to pay for college. Student Financial Services Staff and Financial Aid Counselors will share payment options, due dates, financial aid requirements, and financial literacy tips. All student attendees will have the opportunity to win a $500 Book Award for the University Store on Fifth!
4 p.m. - 4:50 p.m. Computer and Web Resources Presentation
Join members of Computing Services to obtain helpful information on Campus Computing Labs, Internet connectivity, important websites (e.g. course listings and software downloads) and your student email/financial accounts.
5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Student Affairs: Life on Campus
In this entertaining presentation, you will meet your 2017 First Year Mentors as they act out everyday situations on college campuses. Break-out discussion sessions with the Mentors and University staff will follow the performances.
6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Student Dinner
Whether you are staying on campus for your PittStart session or commuting from home – come join your classmates and the Pitt Pathfinders for some food and fun!
7:30 p.m. - 10:15 p.m. Social Activities
The Pathfinders are planning activities and entertainment to help you make new friends and Pitt memories. More detailed information on the events, times, and locations will be available when you arrive on campus.
10:30 p.m. Curfew and Floor Meetings
If you are staying in the on-campus overnight accommodations, you will have a mandatory floor meeting with the Pathfinders at 10:30 p.m. Check signs around your building or ask a Pathfinder to find the location.

Day Two (Mandatory)

Everyone will officially check in for the PittStart session now unless you checked in for your PittStart session on Day One. Sennott Square, the home of Pitt Business, is located on the corner of Forbes Avenue and Bouquet Street (across from the School of Law).

8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Welcome to Pitt Business: From the Classroom, To the City, To the World
This program is mandatory for all Pitt Business freshmen. Parents are welcome to attend, but not required to attend. During this time, students will learn what it takes to be a successful Pitt Business student. Topics covered include: academic planning, career development, international experiences, the Pitt Business-specific outside the classroom curriculum, business student organizations, and business student life. Presenters include representatives from the Pitt Business Associate Dean’s office, Pitt Business Academic Advising, Pitt Business Career Development, Pitt Business International Programs, and others. Students should plan to check out and have lunch after this program ends.

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Find Your Fall Term Classrooms
Pathfinder escorts will be available at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. Please bring your fall class schedule.
2 p.m. – 5 p.m. PittStart Check-Out
All students must check out of their PittStart session to ensure that you have completed all necessary tasks before leaving campus. Submit your PittStart survey via the Guidebook App, and get a free PittStart t-shirt at Check-Out!
