Day One (Mandatory)

Breakfast and dinner today and tomorrow may be purchased using your fall term meal plan at any of the available on-campus dining facilities. In addition all PittStart students have $8 on their Panther Card to be used today for lunch, and families receive a complimentary family meal pass. Restaurant options are also available in the Guidebook App.

You may begin moving into your fall term residence hall at 7 a.m. Afterward, be sure to stop by Panther Central and pick up your new student ID.

8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Paper Placement Exams (For students only)
This testing is for students who need to complete the following placement exams that are only offered on campus in a paper format: Music Theory, Latin, Russian, and Portuguese.

9:30 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. PittStart Check-In & Icebreakers
You can officially check in for your PittStart session at this time. Then join Pitt Pathfinders and your new classmates for games and fun!

Panther Central is the University’s concierge service provider and your go-to place for all the essentials of daily living on campus, from Pitt IDs and housing, to meal plans and transportation.

2:15 p.m. - 3:50 p.m. Managing Student Finances
Every student and parent needs to understand how to pay for college. Student Financial Services and Financial Aid Counselors explain the student account and share payment options, due dates, financial aid requirements, and financial literacy tips. All student attendees will have the opportunity to win a $500 Book Award for the University Store on Fifth!

This is for students who need to complete online placement exams in Math, French, German, Italian, and Spanish or the First-Year Online Orientation.

Join members of Computing Services to obtain helpful information on Campus Computing Labs, Internet connectivity, important websites (e.g. course listings and software downloads) and your student email/financial accounts.

5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Student Affairs: Life on Campus
In this entertaining presentation, you will meet your 2017 First Year Mentors as they act out everyday situations on college campuses. Break-out discussion sessions with the Mentors and University staff will follow the performances.

Become involved with research as early as your first year with the OUR. OUR supports creative endeavors, publishes an undergraduate magazine, and sponsors Field Studies programs. Pick up free t-shirts and magazines at the same time!
