There are a few things that you should know to ensure your PittStart goes smoothly and you have plenty of time to focus on exploring campus and academic planning.

Pitt Pathfinders

Our Pathfinders are current students who love Pitt and are happy to help you start your life here. They will be available to answer your questions and assist you throughout your PittStart session.

Meals at PittStart

On Day One, we encourage students and family members to eat breakfast prior to checking in. Light refreshments will be available at PittStart Check-In. Students will receive $8 in Panther Funds for lunch, but a lunch will not be provided for family members. Separate dinners will be provided for students and any family members who attend. Snacks are available for students prior to residence hall curfew.

On Day Two, a breakfast meal swipe will be provided on all students' Pitt IDs. For lunch, there are plenty of opportunities for you to explore the numerous and delicious options on and off campus on your own. Visit the Check-In tables for restaurant guides and coupons.

If you have a food allergy or special dietary need, please contact Keith Bauman at keb125@pitt.edu or 412-648-2580.

Your Student ID

You have the option to take your own photo for your Panther Card (student ID) and send it to Panther Central in advance of your PittStart. If you do so, your ID will be printed and ready to go at Panther Central when you come to campus! Submit your photo here. Please do not submit your photo more than two weeks prior to your PittStart.

*To obtain your Pitt Student ID, you must present either a Driver’s License, State-Issued ID, or a Passport. If you do not have any of those forms of identification, bring two forms of non-photo ID such as your birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or social security card.
